Each individual who returns from their Cursillo weekend
with a renewed commitment to work for Christ, is encouraged to join in the
activities of an existing community of persons who have also experienced
the weekend. The purpose of this community is to give strength and support
to each other in order that each person might grow in faith and develop
their particular gifts of ministry. The support is provided through two
methods, and it is very important that anyone who might be interested in
attending a weekend or are searching, should be invited to these meetings.
These are held frequently when several people gather together for mutual
encouragement and support through PIETY, STUDY, and ACTION.
Jesus once said that
"wherever two or more are gathered in my name, I am there among them". The
basis of group reunion is just this: we gather together as fellow
disciples "in the name of Jesus". What makes grouping different from all
those other times we get together with friends is that little phrase "in
my name". While it is always good for a few Christian friends to get
together and enjoy each other's company, grouping is about getting
together for a specific purpose.
Group reunion reminds us of the great commandment: We are to love God with
all our heart, soul, mind and strength.
The Group Reunion should only last 1 hour, as it is not a prayer or bible
study group. The same format is used across all Dioceses.
Large print versions of the Group Reunion card are available on request or
at our Ultreyas.
These are meetings of larger groups of people who have participated in a
weekend, or people that want to know more about Cursillo. Here they share and witness to others so that the Church and
their own faith may be built up. The Diocesan meetings normally start with
a Eucharist at 12:00, followed by a bring and share lunch. The afternoon Ultreya is normally over by 16:00.
This is a great opportunity to meet with other Cursillistas from around
the Diocese, and also from neighbouring Dioceses.
During the Group Reunion in the afternoon, there is an opportunity for
people wanting to know about Cursillo to talk to the Lay Director and
Spiritual Director, and to ask any questions.
This meeting is aimed at new Cursillistas, it’s purpose is to re-enforce the message from
the last day of the weekend, and to explain the process of Sponsorship. In
Chichester Cursillo we hold them every 2 years.
This is the only meeting that we hold that is for people that have
attended a weekend.
Spiritual Direction is a developing
concern within the Church generally, and in Cursillo in particular. It is
an important part of the Fourth Day.
The essence of Spiritual Direction is in the formation of a significant
relationship - a friendship in Christ - in which a growing Christian is
paired with a person mature in spiritual wisdom and experience. Such a
friendship serves to challenge and guide the growing Christian into a
deeper relationship with his or her Lord.
Spiritual Direction is intended to provide a means for assisting the
individual to grow beyond the comfortable and familiar and in to
the fullness of the life of grace.
If you would like to know more, please either contact Fr Norman our
Spiritual Director, or contact your Vicar, or contact the Diocesan
Spirituality Consultant at Church House.
