Chichester Cursillo is
not exclusive to Chichester alone. It is inclusive of British Anglican Cursillo, which is in turn part of the
worldwide Cursillo movement, and holds identical guidelines the world over.
To keep us all in touch, at least one member of each Cursillo Diocese attends a twice yearly meeting.Norman Horsley is the current representative. These meetings are rewarding – they have a tight structure
through which we hear and contribute to the working plans of the British Anglican Cursillo Council (BACC).
We hold a floating Group Reunion, meet folk from other Cursillo dioceses, share our plans and
ideas, and come away fired up with the action of other people. The meetings are an example of ‘prayer, study and action’.
You are welcome to join Norman at the next meeting, as a ‘non-voting’ member, to see what happens.
BACC have an ‘education arm’ which organises ‘post-Cursillo’ weekends, giving signposts for
the direction of individuals. At the Cursillo weekend, we realise we can all be leaders. The post-Cursillo weekend suggests how.
They are another opportunity to share ‘ideas’ with like minded people from other
dioceses, as well as structure our own ‘plan’.
BACC advise new Cursillo dioceses how to get started, and introduce them to a ‘gifting’ diocese.Oxford
held their first Cursillo weekend in April 2005, and Sheffield followed in
October 2005. Older Cursillo communities need the backbone of BACC just as much as the rest of us.
So BACC unites us all, raises funds, and sends out leaders – not just in
the UK – Cyprus and India were part of the plan last year. Anything done by BACC is done by you – your prayer and Christian
care supports the work of all the leaders, within this diocese, throughout
the country, and beyond.
Some of you may have noticed Cursillo mentioned in the Chichester Magazine – the bi-monthly
magazine published for the diocese from Church House.
We would love to be able to send the Chichester Magazine some more accounts that they could
publish. Is there something you could write about, to describe a Christian action that you have been inspired
to do, since your Cursillo weekend? Some of you may have heard Witness Talks at our Ultreyas, and shared events in your
Group Reunions; could one of these be put into about 500 words, to describe
how Christ has made a difference in your environment? It wouldn’t be an account of your weekend, but something that has
motivated you since the weekend.
Alternatively we could use an article in our own Chichester Chronicles or even in the BACC Pages.
We all work together
for the growth and health of our churches and communities. Cursillo has helped develop that growth for many people across the
world. May we further share our
experiences.
Do contact Norman Horsley, the BACC Representative if you would like to send something in.
